He worked for the NHS for 23 years in Diagnostic clinical specialties, finally as the Head of Information Technology before leaving to join Lockheed Martin on their public sector venture. He has been both Mayor and Leader in Salisbury and is a serving City Councillor, He is actively involved in both national and local charities including as a trustee for Safer and Supportive Salisbury. He is currently a director and Chair of Broken Bridges Nature Reserve Ltd.

David is a founding director of 3D Rural and has a degree in Rural Estate Management from Reading University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Chartered Environmentalist and holds a BASIS Soil and Water Management Certificate from Harper Adams University. David has worked in conservation land management for more than 40 years - for the Peak District National Park and for 25 years with the National Trust. His work has ranged from hands on estate management, to policy and strategy development at national level. He has specific experience of farms and estates in both lowland and upland areas of the country and has managed many properties of national and international conservation importance.
